This was a picture of a bride of mine taken quite some years ago at Dumbleton Hall, Nr Evesham, Worcestershire. My bride wanted something very individual and even gave me a drawing to work from. When brides come to me they want something different, they want to design their big day-we work together to create a mood board, a wedding file is opened for them where by all emails are stored. I love to see their wedding dress, I want to see their bridesmaid dress’s, I ask for material swatches, I ask what the bride and groom do for a living, how they met-I need to know a little about them-their personalities, “what makes them tick”.
We talk via phone and email, meet as many times as they want (lots of coffee is drunk and sometimes a glass of wine or two!) and then all the ideas are put in writing. I have taught floristry for many years now and all my students are taught to “think out of the box” to not only think of the bridal bouquets, buttonholes, corsages and table decorations but to look at the venue -work with the landscape-can lanterns be hung from trees, lighting, where the sun sets, candle light…….and so much more. I want them to have the “wow” factor and a day that was so individual that their family and friends remember how beautiful their flowers were.
Attention to detail is so important, my suppliers have to be first class, I have to be very organised but it’s all worth it when I know I have helped my brides create them dream day.
